Leaves Soft, eliptic tapering shape. Large, up to 25 cm long. Flowers Small, white to greenish, in elongated spike-like clusters. Fruit and Seeds Green berries ripening to purplish black and containing a red juice. In long upright spikes. Highly toxic. Habitat Creeks, roadsides, disturbed areas, waste areas, urban bushland. Distinguishing Features Smaller and has smaller leaves, and more upright berry stalks than closely related Pokeweed (Phytolacca americana) which is also a troublesome weed.
