Family: Malvaceae Scientific name: Urena lobata Description: Plant Form Upright herb or small shrub. Size Up to 3 m tall. Stem Green and hairy when young, becoming woody with age. Leaves Egg-shaped, often with 1 or 3 lobes, 4-10 cm long. Both sides hairy, the underside being more so. Flowers Showy pink, with 5 petals and a tubular centre. About 2 cm across. Fruit and Seeds Round and slightly flattened dry fruit, slighly hairy and with numerous hooked spines which attach to fur or clothing. Contain kidney-shaped brown seeds. Habitat Swamps, forest edges, urban bushland, roadsides, waste areas. Sometimes regarded as native in parts of northern Australia.
