Family: Asteraceae Scientific name: Lactuca saligna Description: Plant Form annual or biennial erect herbs 30-100 cm tall; stems naked. Leaves divided with narrow lobes, 80-200 x 5-50 mm, upper ones with stem-clasping bases. Flowerheads yellow, many in large, rounded panicle, small, of dandelion type with only ligulate florets. Fruits with ribbed, flattened body 3-4 mm and beak 2-5 mm long, pappus (parachuting hairs) 3 mm long. Distinguishing Features Leaves with narrower lobes than in Lactuca serriola, and not held in same orientation vertically.
