Plant Form Shrub to 3 m tall, often scandent and forming thickets. Stems long and weak, with short recurved prickles, often glandular when young. Leaves opposite, undivided, 2.5-8 cm long and 1.5-4.5 cm wide, toothed, with petiole to 2 cm long. Flowers in heads on stalks to 8 cm long, of various colours, 10-14 mm long. Fruits fleshy, 4-6 mm diam., black.
