Family: Tamaricaceae Scientific name: Tamarix ramosissima Description: Plant Form Shrub or small tree. Size Up to 5 m tall. Stem Often multi-stemmed. Flexible and willowy. Varies from reddish brown to blackish or purplish brown. Leaves Greyish-green scale leaves which cover stems and exude salt. Flowers Tiny pink flowers densely packed on a spike 1.5-7 cm long. Fruit and Seeds Caspule up to 6 mm long. Habitat Roadsides, riparian areas, coastal scrub, urban bushland. Distinguishing Features Smaller than Athel pine (Tamarix aphylla) and has longer and less dense flower clusters than Small flower tamarisk (Tamarix parviflora).
