Family: Tamaricaceae Scientific name: Tamarix parviflora Description: Plant Form Small tree. Size Up to 6 m tall. Stem Spreading, branching.With brown to deep purple hairless bark. Leaves Greyish-green scale leaves which cover stems and exude salt. Flowers Tiny, very numerous pale pink, along dense spikes. Fruit and Seeds Hundreds of seeds contained within the old flower parts. Habitat Roadsides, pastures, grasslands, riparian areas, wetlands, arid areas, coastal scrub. Distinguishing Features Smaller than Athel pine (Tamarix aphylla) and has shorter and more dense flower clusters than Saltcedar (Tamarix ramosissima) Weed Status: Priority Weed Weed Type: Environmental Lifeform: Woody/tree
